Social&English Teacher (Grade 6-12)

 

1. Role and Responsibilities

Korea International Christian School, an internationally accredited school, is seeking a dedicated Social and/or English (and Literature) teacher for Secondary (G6~12) students. As a Social study and English teacher, you will be expected to teach a range of US curriculum-based history classes such as American History, World History, Geography, Economics, and AP courses as well as English and Literature classes including Writing & Grammar, Essay, World Literature, British Literature, and American Literature.

 

Responsibilities

  • Teach secondary Social Studies and/or English to grades 6-12
  • Deliver exceptional mathematics instruction to multiple grades, including American History, World History, Geography, Economics, and/or AP courses
  • Teach a variety of English/Literature/Social Studies topics to students including Writing & Grammar, Essay, World Literature, British Literature, and American Literature, and/or AP courses.
  • Teacher may responsible for Honors class level.
  • Develop a balanced science program involving factual background material, discussion time and appropriate activities designed to encourage students to develop essential knowledge, skills and attitudes, draw conclusions, achieve improved interpersonal relationships, and make value judgments based on scientific methods of inquiry
  • Provide individual or small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes and cultural backgrounds
  • Teach core concepts and skills as set out in the Social Studies/English department’s scope and sequence and always directed to the vision and mission of the school
  • Create tests, assessments, and projects to evaluate student progress
  • Participate in faculty and departmental meetings
  • Plan and instruct English and Social Study Fair

 

2. Candidate Qualifications

Foreigners (F-2, F-4, F-5, and F-6 Visa Holders) and Korean Citizens

  • Candidates must hold a minimum of a bachelor degree from an accredited university and have their apostilled diploma on hand
  • Candidates must hold a federal level background check with a federal level apostille
  • Candidates must be able to teach classes in fluent English

 

Preferences

  • Candidates with teaching licenses are preferred
  • Candidates who can teach AP courses
  • Candidates with previous English or Social study teaching experience at international schools are preferred
  • Candidates who are hard-working and able to adapt to a fast-paced school environment are preferred

 

3. Working Conditions:

  • Working Hours: M-F: 8:30 AM-5:30 PM
  • Teaching Hours: 25 hours per week
  • Class Length: 50 min/class
  • Students per Class: 8-25 Students
  • Grade Level: Grade 6-12

 

4. Benefits

Insurance and Financial: Insurance and pension will be matched by the employer

Vacation: Full time – 15days in addition to national holidays in Korea; Part-time -Negotiable

Housing: Provided housing or housing allowance (for F-visa holders or candidates who have lived in the U.S. and/or Canada for over 10 years)
