Social Study's Fair

On September 30, KICS students had the Social Study's Fair during the fifth and sixth periods.

High school students from grades 9 to 11 selected interesting topics about history and politics and introduced their materials in unique and various forms.
Students participating in the fair decorated their classrooms and placed their presentation boards and some ingenious architecture that they made.
Middle and elementary school students went around each booth and enjoyed learning interesting historical knowledge given by high school students.
Also, teachers visited each booth and examined students’ projects, amazed by their creativity.

Each group had its own unique items and presentation that caught the students' eyes. 11 graders who researched the Romans’ waterway system made the aqueduct, the bridge that was made to support the waterway flowing over the road or river, by themselves with cardboard and plastic straws. However, the most amazing fact was that it actually worked the same as a real stone-made aqueduct with the same scientific principle. It actually transported water from the water tank to the city made of foam boards, and lots of students and teachers were impressed by seeing real water flowing.

Other 11 graders who researched ancient Egyptian religion made a pyramid that can be opened so that students can see the interior of it. They placed mummies of Pharaoh and some relics of ancient Egypt in the pyramid and introduced the Egyptians' beliefs about the afterlife. They decorated their presentation boards and pyramid with orange lights to highlight their main topics and made listeners focused.

A team from 10th grade dived deep into the facts about the Pyramid. They shared information about the structure and usage of the pyramid. They charmed their audience using a special performance–play. They performed a play on the “Curse of the Pharaoh,” which is one of the mysteries behind the Pyramid.

All students and teachers had a productive time sharing and discussing diverse knowledge with each other. After a week of long careful consideration, the school selected first, second, and third places for the best performance and creativity. Each group's team leader received their certification from Pastor Yongkuk Yu at the auditorium. All the groups who were rewarded gained extra credit for their social study grade. Through the social study's fair in KICS, students gained deepened knowledge of their topics about social study and experience of teamwork and leadership.
